✍️ The Design: The Vermont Green Mountain Boys flag is a historic banner from the American Revolutionary War. Originally used by the local militia led by Ethan Allen in the 1760s, it later served as the official flag of the sovereign Vermont Republic from 1777 until the territory joined the United States. This iconic revolutionary flag flew during pivotal victories, including the capture of Fort Ticonderoga and the Battle of Bennington, where colonial patriots resisted the forces of the United Kingdom.

The design features a vibrant green field that symbolizes the lush Green Mountains of Vermont. In the upper hoist corner, a deep blue canton holds 13 five-pointed white stars arranged in a natural, scattered pattern.

National Days of Celebration: The flag plays a major role on Bennington Battle Day every August 16, a Vermont state holiday honoring the historic 1777 revolutionary victory. It is also prominently displayed on Vermont Statehood Day on March 4 to celebrate the state's admission to the Union in 1791, a day when historical reenactors and citizens fly the banner to honor the region's independent roots.
